Some Quest Charter Academy Students May Not Get To Bus To School Anymore

Quest Charter Academy will likely stop transporting students if they live close to the school this fall.  Principal Engin Blackstone says it's part of an effort to shorten the average bus ride for students to less than one hour:

BLACKSTONE: It's to long to transport students or having the students on the bus for one hour and fifteen or twenty minutes. And we figured out that busses (are) spending a lot of time to the areas close to the school. If we would eliminate this part, we thought we will improve. And we did some data on this too. We will improve in terms of bus ride timing.

Blackstone says it’s not clear exactly how far students must live from Quest to qualify for transportation.  He says the distance could range from three-fourths of a mile to one mile.  Blackstone says details on the policy will be hammered out next month.  He says the transportation policy, if changed, would affect at least 27 students living close to the school this fall.  Blackstone says officials will also consider side-walk availability and weather conditions for those impacted students.  300 students from fifth through eights grade are starting at the Math, Science and technology school this fall.
